About Bee Light Hawai’i

100% organic Hawaiian beeswax candles

Owner and candle maker, Dan Tilton, was raised in the sleepy little towns of Waialua and Haleiwa and has spent the last 50 years living in Hawai’i. He grew up surfing and fishing off of the lush and tropical coasts Oahu’s North Shore. There he began his career as ceramic artist making anything from functional stoneware (mugs, plates, bowls) to Raku fired decorative pieces and hand painted hula lamps.

In 2005, Dan was fortunate to moved to Pa’auilo on the Big Island of Hawaii, another beautiful small town. He started a tree trimming and landscaping business and worked part time for Hawai’i Harvest Honey. After seeing the spectacular yellow-gold beeswax, he soon merged his ceramics background with his connection to Hawai’i Harvest Honey to create beautiful candles with their 100% certified organic beeswax. Since then his business, Bee Light Hawai’i LLC, has flourish and the beeswax candles can be found in stores all over the Islands of Hawai’i.

Hawaii Harvest Honey

About Hawai’i Harvest Honey

After selling their 1600-hive apiary in Vermont, Peter Genier and his wife Mary Sautter moved to Pa’auilo, Hawai’i and started over with eight hives in 2013. Hawai’i Harvest Honey was certified organic in 2015. Peter’s son, Arthur, who had been working on the island as a beekeeper, began to help with the bees.  They were joined in 2018 by their old friend and extended family member, Tristan Winpenny, a fellow Vermont beekeeper who had moved to the Big Island with his family shortly after Peter and Mary. This partnership of the two generations of beekeepers is intended to allow a seamless passing of the torch in maintaining all aspects of the apiary operations as Peter and Mary gradually phase out of day-to-day operations in the coming years.
